Meteohub is a miniaturized weather server, that records weather data from the weather station, evaluates this data, draws user defined weather graphs and uploads these via ftp to a web server. Furthermore, Meteohub can upload weather data to Internet weather networks and can export recorded weather data in different formats to allow further processing on the PC. But nevertheless Meteohub can also be used to run a client application called Meteoplug and upload the weatherdata to a server database.

The ALIX.3D2 board is based on AMD Geode LX800 processor (500 MHz clocked) and is lacking a keyboard and monitor connector. This makes the board cheaper and also smaller. The CF card, that has to be mounted internally and cannot be accessed from the outside, is used as storage media. Main features of ALIX.3D2 are:
- x86 system based on AMD Geode LX800, 500MHz, 1000BogoMIPS, 256MB RAM
- Meteohub software and data are stored on (internal) CF-Karte
- System starts automatically when power is present
- integrated RS232 interface
- no VGA connector, no keyboard connector
- optional WLAN by mini-PCI slot
